The Story of What Comes After Something
〜That Catches the Wind #1〜

MOVIE : 7min 1sec / UPDATE : 2021.2.16

Since a few years ago, I have been visiting and observing the winter migration routes of birds while collecting their feathers to use for my work.

The vista I saw when I first visited Kozumi also spread out from the migratory birds. In this season too, having visited again the place where the birds land, I am gradually developing my work.

Birds thoroughly examine the land from the sky, the trees, or somewhere in between. They also closely observe human behavior. Even if they come back to the same place every year, they flutter their wings toward new land and leave that place, quietly or loudly, when the land no longer seems plentiful for them and others. If they cannot find any riches to even the slightest degree, they never return.

I think humans behave in the same way. If there is a difference, though, it is that humans need “mental richness.” Humans are creatures capable of modifying a place to make it seem rich to them. However, if this “richness” entails only short-term convenience that excludes other living creatures, ducks, for example, would never go back there.

This world is not just for human beings; all living creatures exist in a perfect balance. Learning this anew from migratory birds, I would like to gradually share what I realized with everyone.
